The high speed impact device is powered by compressed air cyliners. The device is equipped with dual chronographs in order to measure the projectile velocity before and after sample penetration. The Indicative velocities for the gun using a 17 grain FSP are shown in the figure below, however the actual velocity is user specific.

The set-up was calibrated by comparing velocities measured with the SABRE velocity meter from the gas gun and chronograph inside the impact chamber without any sample. The entry and exit velocity can be measured seperately.
